In searching for a sound, full-gospel church based solidly upon the Word of God, several individuals from the Tri-Cities area began the long trek on a weekly basis to Resurrection Life Church in Grandville where there was an entire growing body of believers. These individuals gathered together during period of time in the late 1980's and began a mid-week Home Group in a Spring Lake home. Growing under the Holy Spirit inspired teaching of Larry Haney and Pastor Bernie Groendyke, they quickly outgrew the home and began renting the Barber Street School in Spring Lake to continue their weekly Bible study.
It wasn't long before God's plan was birthed and Pastor Bernie Groendyke became the founding Pastor of the new Resurrection Life Church Tri-Cities. The first service was held on Easter Sunday, April 1990, in the Spring Lake City Hall. Under the continued anointing of God, they quickly outgrew the City Hall, and in April, 1991, began holding services in the Grand Haven Jr. High School Auditorium.
In early 1992, 17 acres of land was purchased and after a year and a half of fund raising, construction began on the church building in the summer of 1993. The first service at our current location was held in April, 1994.
In January 2003 the church was expanded to seat 1,500 in the sanctuary and included a new children’s sanctuary and supporting classrooms, a nursery suite, and a dedicated youth sanctuary.
In June 2008 Pastor Bernie Groendyke passed the baton of Lead Pastor to Pastors Jeff and Dina Hackert of Ludington, MI. The Hackerts had been church planters and were currently leading a church plant in Ludington. After much prayer, it seemed “good to us and the Holy Spirit” that they were to become the new Lead Pastors of Res Life Grand Haven. The two churches were joined together to form One church - Two Locations!
Today Jeff and Dina, along with their Pastoral Staff, are leading Res Life into the future with great anticipation!
“Though we love our memories, our dreams for the future are bigger and brighter. Thanks to a great foundation, our greatest days are ahead of us!”
